TESCOR BUILDS CHINA'S FIRST AUTO AND BUS A/C TEST SYSTEM EQUIPPED WITH CHINESE SOFTWARE

Warminster, PA, April, 1998- Grand Ocean Auto Air Conditioning Engineering (Dalian) Co., Ltd. recently commissioned in Dalian, China, a new vehicle climate control system calorimeter capable of testing the performance of both bus and automobile air conditioning systems complete with test reports in Chinese characters, a first for China's emerging automobile testing industry. Built by Tescor, Inc. of Warminster, PA, the calorimeter consists of four test chambers for testing evaporators, condenser, and compressor together as a complete A/C system for passenger cars and van or bus systems. Tescor also installed the first bus A/C system calorimeter in Yue Yang, China, last year but that facility does not possess the Chinese software features. The design calls for side by side chambers with temperature, humidity and air flow independently controlled. The two evaporator/heater chambers and one condenser chamber include an air enthalpy tunnel or code tester which enables the precise measurement of the capacity of evaporator coils and condenser coils in accordance with the requirement of industry standards such as ASHRAE, IMACA, SAE and JIS.

In fact, Tescor's vehicle climate control system calorimeter exceeds ASHRAE 33 stability and measurement accuracy requirements by a minimum factor of 2 with resulting heat balance agreements exceeding the standard by a factor of 2. When measuring UUT (Unit Under Test) performance by the tunnel air enthalpy method and the refrigerant enthalpy method, the facility is able to achieve an absolute heat balance of 3% or better. Repeatability of test results for consecutive testing of a UUT at the same condition have yielded less than 1% capacity variation for at least 90% of repeat tests.

The test system is equipped with a completely automated Data Acquisition Supervisory Control System (DAS) which utilizes custom software featuring a test monitoring screen and test report with Chinese characters.
