TESCOR INSTALLS STATE-OF-THE-ART AUTOMOTIVE TEST FACILITY IN BRAZIL

Warminster, PA, May 2001 – Tescor, Inc. has recently completed the installation in Jaguariuna, Brazil, of a fully automated Test Laboratory. The facility which includes an Automotive A/C Compressor Calorimeter, two Test Stands and two Test Benches has been designed and engineered for a first-tier automotive parts manufacturer who supplies Automotive Compressors to a major U.S. automaker.

The Calorimeter System is equipped with a Computerized Data Acquisition and Control System. The Compressor Calorimeter uses the Secondary Refrigerant Calorimeter method with Liquid Mass Flow Confirmation. The calorimeter covers a wide range of operating conditions and can be used for a broad range of compressors. Using the secondary refrigerant method the Calorimeter is used to accurately generate compressor capacities and efficiencies. The Typical System is used for unattended long and short term durability testing using various sets and sub sets of controlled conditions while automatically monitoring and collecting data. An Audit Stand is intended for short-term “quick point” compressor observation and evaluation of a subjective nature.

The CVC Compressor Test Stand is used for Analysis of Compressor noise. All Test Systems are designed and manufactured to test various performance and durability of CVC compressors, and are also flexible enough to test LVC compressors. This Compact Variable Compressor (CVC) is based on swash plate simple harmonic motion mechanism. The enhanced mechanism performance makes the CVC adaptable to both pneumatic and electronic control. The CVC is adaptable to a full range of small (125 cc), mid-sized, and large (185 cc) vehicles and can be applied to both Thermostatic Expansion Valve and orifice Tube systems. The Audit TEST Bench system is automated with computer Data Acquisition and Supervisory (DAS) control System Software. The CVC design and components are CE compliant.

Performance Advantages - The CVC’s continuous displacement feature results in smooth, continuous compressor operation without clutch cycling, improving dehumidification and fuel economy. Through the use of its simple harmonic motion mechanism, preloaded shaft, optimized valve, and porting system, and quiet clutch design, the CVC also delivers high speed operation, best in class output per mass ratio, best in class output to volume, outstanding noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) characteristics, and enhanced control performance.

The Compressor Calorimeter conforms to the following Design standards:ASHRAE, ARI 520 – 190, ISO 917
